Gwen Stevens had a privileged life until her father spoke three little words that turned her world upside down. “You’re cut off.”

Broke and desperate, Gwen is forced to accept a waitressing job, but this glimmer of hope has a price. As if being a cocktail waitress isn’t bad enough, she has to do it in a dive bar called The Den, and her bad luck doesn’t stop there. She also needs to deal with the new owner, a blue-eyed, self-righteous ass determined to make her life miserable.

Liam Sinclair walked away from the entitlement and obligation his family planned for him, vowing to make his own way in the world…

Adjusting to life as a new business owner, Liam has experienced more than his fair share of setbacks. When his only waitress breaks her leg, his sister takes it upon herself to hire a replacement—a spoiled, self-indulgent hothead with too much makeup and more than enough attitude. Gwen represents the world he’s trying to escape, a world of excess and greed that he was never cut out for.

Appearances can be deceiving, and first impressions aren’t always right…

Despite their apparent differences, the tension between them turns to a fiery passion that neither of them can resist. Together they find balance and learn to appreciate the simpler things in life. But Gwen soon discovers that old habits die hard, and one mistake is all it takes to ruin everything.

Forgiveness must be earned, but even a villain deserves a chance at redemption…
*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.''

*2.5 stars*

I'm a huge fan of the NA genre but, unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. At all. I haven't read the rest of the books in the series and truthfully, I don't think that I'll ever will. Main reason is the setting. It did nothing for me. It didn't motivate, inspire or made me want to keep reading.

The story was interesting enough but, from the moment I started reading, I knew there was no chance of me sympathizing or connecting with Gwen as a reader. I could not, for the life of me, bring myself to like her. Not even a little bit. She came off as a spoiled brat whose personality didn't get any better throughout the book. She has a lot of flaws as a character and nothing to actually redeem her for them in my eyes, or at least make things a bit better. She irritated from the very first chapter which, believe it or not, has never happened before.

Liam was a much better character in the sense that, he was at least likable. He helped a damsel in distress get back on her own two feet. He was very loyal and determined to make Gwen a better person, which is what ended up happening. He was basically a sweetheart, in comparison with the rest.

I found the idea of the book itself very interesting because I hadn't read a NA in a while and it sounded very different from most new adult books that I had come across before picking it up. But, the flow of the story never improved, the plot was more than predictable and the development of everything that had to do with it nonexistent in my opinion. The writing was okay but the story dragged on and on without anything mind blowing happening in the process.

I might sound a bit harsh but, Chance at Redemption was not the book for me. I was expecting to at least like it but, I didn't enjoy it at all. And as a reader, connecting with the characters of any book that I choose to read is one of the most important things so, the fact that I didn't even come close to liking Gwen, spoke volumes to me about whether I would enjoy her story or not.

I seriously do not know whether I'd recommend this book to you guys. It wasn't the worst but, it could've definitely been so much better! It was too rushed and underdeveloped for my taste so, it's a maybe.
