Top Ten Tuesday #40 - Top Ten Gateway Books In My Reading Journey

Hello guys and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.Today's topic:
"Top Ten Gateway Books In My Reading Journey"

Gateway to Reading

*Sally Lockhart Series By Philip Pullman
I adore the series and I read the books every single year. It's kind of like a tradition and The Ruby in the Smoke was one of the first books I read and it really encouraged me to read more.

*Vampire Academy By Richelle Mead
Another Series that I read a long time ago.Not that long but it was at the time when this fascinating and exciting journey started so I consider them my gateway to reading. And I read all the books in less than a week.I was obsessed.

*The Alchemyst By Michael Scott
I love The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel so so much!I read them a long time ago and I should probably re read them soon since they really affected me and made me wanna read more.

Gateway to Dystopia

*The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins
I read the trilogy back in 2011 and it holds a special place in my heart. So it is officially the first dystopian book I ever read.

Gateway to Fantasy

*Study Series By Maria V. Snyder
The love of my life...I'm pretty sure this isn't the first fantasy novel I ever read but it was definitely the series that made me want to read more fantasy.

Gateway to Contemporary

*Pushing the Limits By Katie McGarry
Before reading Pushing the Limits,I avoided contemporary books in general because I'm a sucker for adventure and always read books that had adventure and nothing realistic if it makes sense. And then this fantastic, wonderful, phenomenal book made me realize that contemporary books rock!!!

Gateway to New Adult

*Beautiful Disaster By Jamie McGuire
This was the first book I read that belongs to the NA genre and...I was obsessed.Still am.It made me want to pick up more New Adult titles and I don't regret it.

Gateway to Adult Paranormal

*Spider's Bite By Jennifer Estep
I love many things...Especially books with assassin heroines. So when I read this...My name is Gin, and I kill people...I was done.Yes please!First adult/paranormal book I ever read and of course...I wanted more.

*Some Girls Bite By Chloe Neill
I've talked about these books many times and according to Goodreads I read Some Girls Bite the day after Spider's Bite so it's not fair to not include it!

Gateway to Historical Romance

*Annie's Song By Catherine Anderson
I read this one a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it.I'm not a big fan of historical fiction/romance but I thought I'd give this one a try since it sounded really interesting. It was the perfect introduction to the genre and made me wanna read more Historical Romance books.I haven't read any more yet but I'm working on it!

  1. I've heard so many good things about Pushing the Limits - I think I've had it on my wishlist/TBR since it was published and I just haven't got around to reading it. I also really need to read the rest of the Vampire Academy books since I've only read the first two (I probably need to re-read those too).

I've heard a lot of good things about Katie McGarry but I have yet to try one of her books. *sigh* the size of my TBR is quite bad. And I need to finish the Vampire Academy series one of these days too. lol, so much reading, so little time.
