Alexis doesn’t believe in fairytales. She knows first hand that life can turn on a dime – that one stupid mistake can shatter dreams and irrevocably shape the future. Even though her memory of that day is hazy, she has spent the last ten years trying to put it behind her and focus on the future.

Armed with the knowledge that her career will be her only legacy, Alexis works night and day to prove that she is more than just her last name. It’s not only that she doesn't have time for love – she doesn't have the heart for it. After all, there’s no point in starting something that you can’t finish.

However, when she meets Adam, she’s drawn to him in a way even she can’t deny. He is dark and brooding and strangely charming. He’s the perfect distraction from the mundane life she’s created for herself. And, as if fate is pushing them together, he seems to be around every corner. It’s enough to almost make her entirely forget about her past and take a chance.

Unfortunately, Adam’s memory isn't hazy . . . not in the least. And, what she doesn't remember, he can’t forget.

Alexis works every day to prove that she can reach the expectations other people had for her but she's not okay. She's broken, tired and lonely and when she meets Adam she feels like something might happen. At the beginning they have a "no strings attached" relationship that turns out to be more than they both imagined.

But Adam has a plan.He just wants to break Alexi's heart and get revenge for something she can't remember and has nightmares about, and something that Adam can't forget. But when he gets to meet her,he realizes that looks are deceiving and he finds himself falling for her.But can they make it happen?Or will Adam's plan ruin everything in the end?
And, what she doesn’t remember, he can’t forget.

Seriously? When I read the description I knew I had to read this book.I started it feeling a bit unsure though but then I couldn't stop reading. The story was so emotional and I fell in love with the plot and the characters. What happened ten years ago to make Adam want to get revenge wasn't revealed until later in the story and the characters talked about it but never said what exactly happened. That's one of the things that kept me on edge from the moment I started reading the book.I also had to keep reading to see what would happen and if Adam and Alexis were going to end up together!

Remembering Joy was soooo good an the writing was just fantastic. This is one of those books with the extraordinary in my opinion writing that makes you not want to stop reading. The story is told from both their perspectives and it helps you understand the characters better. At first I couldn't understand why Adam wanted to get revenge and hated Alexis but the revelation of what happened was so heartbreaking. The characters were amazing and even though I didn't agree with what Adam had in mind at first,I could also understand why he wanted revenge.

This was a heartbreaking story about love, loss, revenge and of course...forgiveness.I highly highly recommend it!

Jenni Moen lives in her hometown in Oklahoma with her husband and three crazy, exuberant kids that have the potential to burn the house down at any moment.
When she’s not chauffeuring kids around town, performing her mom duties as a short order cook and maid, or vacuuming for her fastidious husband, she hammers away at her keyboard at her big girl job as a patent attorney. While vodka and exercise have provided some relief from the daily grind, it is reading … and now writing … that are her true escapes.
