Betsy is a Cuban Opera singer in her twenties (seriously.. it's not a joke). When she isn't singing, reading or traveling you can find her cooking, baking, laughing, playing with her crazy Pekingese Luna or painting her nails.
Melody is a twenty something lover of everything books. So much that she is an aspiring author writing books of her own. When she's not writing or reading, she can b found shopping for nail polish, riding bike and listening to Adele songs.
Get to know Betsy & Melody
Where are you from?
We’re both from Miami, FL
What do you like to do when you're not reading or blogging?
Betsy-Singing opera, cooking, painting my nails and playing with my Pekingese Luna.
Betsy-Singing opera, cooking, painting my nails and playing with my Pekingese Luna.
Melody-Writing, playing with my iPhone, painting my nails, and watching my TV shows.
How often do you blog?
We blog for fun. We don’t like the idea of blogging becoming a chore so we blog whenever we genuinely have something to blog about. Typically we post about 2-3 times a week.
Melody - Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer Armentrout
A book you read but didn't like? Betsy- A book I read recently that I did not finish was Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I actually enjoyed it very much until about half way through the book. But that’s MY personal experience- please don’t judge it based on my thoughts.
Melody - Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins is a very popular book, I didn't connect with the protagonist or the hero, the world building was great but wasn't enough to keep me interested.
What book(s) are you currently reading?Betsy- Shadows (Ashes Trilogy #2) by Ilsa J. Bick and Breaking Point (Article 5 #2) by Kristen Simmons.
Melody - Legend by Marie Lu and Breaking Point (Article 5 #2) by Kristen Simmons.
What genre is your favorite?
We love New Adult, Young Adult, and Paranormal Romance!
What's your favorite book?Betsy - That is such a tough question! I think my all-time favorite is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Melody - If I had to choose one, my favorite book would have to be Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, but Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning is another favorite.
Is there a book or a series you've read more than once?
The Lux Series, The Fever Series, Vampire Academy, and The Infernal Devices.
The Lux Series, The Fever Series, Vampire Academy, and The Infernal Devices.
If you could meet any author....who would you choose to meet and why? Jennifer L. Armentrout (who we will meet soon at the Miami Book Fair) because she is seriously the best! There is not once book by her that we haven’t loved. She’s our favorite author!
Who is your favorite fictional character and fictional couple?Betsy- Favorite fictional character is Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy. She is strong, funny, and sarcastic. My favorite fictional couple is Mac and Jericho Barrons from the Fever Series. Close second is Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress Series.
Melody - Favorite character is MacKayla Lane from the Fever series, I love her development through the entire series. Favorite couple would have to be Katy and Daemon from the Lux series and Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress series.
Do you prefer physical books or ebooks?Betsy- There’s nothing like the feel of a physical book but I prefer my Nook because its so convenient and allows me to have hundreds of books in one place. I also travel pretty often so it’s perfect for me.
Melody - I prefer physical books, I have about 400 in my room right now and I don't plan on ever stopping. I also love my e-reader and usually use it for most New Adult or Indie books. I have all of my favorites on my e-reader and physical copy.
If you could read only one book for the rest of your life, which book would it be?Betsy- ONE BOOK!? That’s so mean! LOL. I REFUSE TO CHOOSE JUST ONE BOOK! I’ll choose one series: The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning.
Melody - Same answer! Or Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
Is there a character you really hate?Betsy- Blake from the Lux Series and President Snow from The Hunger Games.
Melody - I'm going to have to agree with Betsy!
Do you prefer hardbacks or paperbacks?
Betsy- I prefer paperbacks but I usually buy Hardcovers because they look nicer (vain moment) LOL.
Betsy- I prefer paperbacks but I usually buy Hardcovers because they look nicer (vain moment) LOL.
Melody - Paperbacks are easier to read but I love my hardcovers!
What do you want to read next?
Betsy- I have NO idea. I have soo many books in my TBR that I don’t even know where to begin. I get anxious.
Melody - I will be reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Do you have a favorite book cover you'd like to share?
Betsy- The original cover for Crewel by Gennifer Albin is one of my favorite covers.
Melody - My favorite book covers are: The hunger games by Suzanne Collins (simple yet perfect) and the new covers in the Shatter me series
An upcoming release you're excited for?
Betsy- Altered by Gennifer Albin, Unchained by J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout), and White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Melody - I agree with Betsy (because she is my book soulmate) and I would like to add Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout !
Is there a book you want to read but at the same time...you dont?(Don't know if that makes any sense:)
Betsy- makes perfect sense. The last book in the Lux series, Opposition, because once that ends- it’s over! ((WAAAAH.))
Melody - I concur and add Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Do you prefer the books or the movie versions of the books?
